Harry Kane has made his feelings clear on Premier League return amid shock Liverpool transfer reports

England captain Harry Kane has already made his feelings clear on joining Liverpool after shock reports emerged about the forward’s future.

Kane, 31, has been linked with a potential return to the Premier League according to various reports, having left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.

Part of the reason for his departure would’ve been his ambition of securing a trophy, something he is yet to do – although Bayern are in the last eight of the Champions League and lead the Bundesliga by six points.

In October 2024, he shared the Gerd Muller Trophy – for most goals in a year – with Kylian Mbappe and explained why he left England during an interview with L’Equipe.

“This trophy validates my career choice, that of leaving my country for the first time at the age of 30,” said Kane.

“I’m hoping to come back perhaps to win an even more prestigious one,” he joked in reference to the 2025 Ballon d’Or which he is one of the favourites to win.

If the Bavarians do the double, Kane will likely finish as the Champions League and Bundesliga’s top goal scorer – something that will help his quest for the coveted prize.

However, when the ceremony takes place in Paris, France on 27 October, he may be playing for a different club, if recent reports are to be believed.

According to Spanish outlet, El Nacional, Kane is ‘seriously considering’ returning to the Premier League ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with the goal to ‘close out his career’ in England.

And Arne Slot’s Liverpool are supposedly the favourites to sign him. But what has Kane said about potentially leaving Munich?

It was reported by the German outlet BILD that Kane’s contract contained an ‘exit’ clause – worth £64m this summer and £54m next winter – should he wish to leave the six-time Champions League winners.

This was put to him by a reporter after Bayern’s 3-0 win against Werder Bremen in February.

“What I can say is that I’m very happy at FC Bayern,” Kane told Sky Germany.

“No comment on the clause.”

“I’ve only been here for 18 months but I feel like it’s been a huge part of my life already,” Kane told FIFA earlier this year.

“The fan base has really been incredible for me and really taken me in, almost as one of their own, and I really appreciate that. Playing for a club like Bayern Munich, the pressure is high, every game is intense and a lot of teams want to beat Bayern to have that on their CV, so you have to be prepared at every moment.

“I’m loving it. I’m enjoying this season with the team, with the coach. We’re playing some really good football and that’s always a joy to be a part of as well.”
