Another potential candidate to be Harry Kane’s backup.

Given Bayern Munich have essentially pushed Mathys Tel out the door to Tottenham Hotspur, the club now finds itself without a backup for star striker Harry Kane. That issue will not be resolved this season, but the club is keeping an eye on the situation and considering potential candidates for the role for the upcoming summer. According to Sky Sport journalists Philipp Hinze and Florian Plettenberg, one of those candidates is VFB Stuttgart’s German striker Nick Woltemade.

As captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade (23) is being monitored by FC Bayern in their search for a Harry Kane backup, although the German U21 international is not a hot topic at the moment.

Arriving from Werder Bremen on a free transfer last summer, Woltemade has slowly worked his way into the lineup of last season’s Bundesliga Vizemeister, to the extent that there were serious calls for a call up to the senior national team. What is so notable about Woltemade is his technique combined with his size. Standing at a gargantuan 1.98 meters, the former SV Eleversberg player’s astounding technique and ball control seem alien to such a large frame. Such strikers are truly rare.

Would Woltemade give up his new found importance at Die Schwäben to pursue a backup role at Bayern? Would Woltemade, with his contract until 2028, be cheap enough to purchase as a backup for England captain Kane? Would Stuttgart give up yet another big talent to a Bundesliga rival? Will Bayern be able to swoop in before Borussia Dortmund do what they do best and steal a player from Stuttgart? Well, we will see.
