Liverpool have been scouting a player from Everton this season ahead of making a potential move for him in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are looking to reinforce Arne Slot’s squad for next season after being knocked out of the FA Cup, Champions League and losing the Carabao Cup final all in quick succession.
It’s clear that the Reds need to improve Slot’s options for next season should they wish to go further in other competitions, especially in the European Cup.
One of the key areas which they want to add to is central defence and they have started looking at a player from across the city.
Liverpool have been tracking Jarrad Branthwaite this season
Liverpool are one of the Premier League clubs that has been tracking Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this season, according to Sky Sports.
Everton are believed to value Branthwaite at £80m although that stance may need to change with his current deal running until 2027.
Manchester United tried to sign Branthwaite before ending up on a move for Leny Yoro in a deal worth around £52 million.
United remain interested in the England international, although Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are now in the frame to sign him.
The Reds may need to replace Virgil van Dijk in the summer with his contract situation still unresolved, whilst Spurs’ Cristian Romero is being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Jarrad Branthwaite considering his future at Everton
Sky’s report adds that Branthwaite, who Sean Dyche called ‘incredible’, is considering his future at Everton after missing out on Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.
The 22-year-old is meant to be one of the top young defenders in the country, however, the German has overlooked him with his first Three Lions selection.
Dan Burn, Leviu Colwill, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa and Jarrell Quansah were all picked ahead of the Everton defender.
