Eventually, Tottenham Hotspur did strengthen their squad with the addition of Antonin Kinsky, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in January.

Kinsky joined Tottenham permanently and Danso and Tel both arrived on loan – a welcome boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side given their troubles with injuries this season.

In terms of Danso’s deal, his loan move will become permanent as long as certain contractual obligations are met, whereas Tel’s loan only included an option to buy according to reports.

Therefore, the duo’s possible permanent arrivals could already take a significant chunk of this summer’s budget, when Postecoglou will surely be willing for Daniel Levy and ENIC to invest in his playing squad.

Tel will cost almost £50m this summer, funds that some fans in N17 might even feel can be better spent.

That being said, Give Me Sport have now provided an interesting insight into Tottenham’s summer transfer plans.

Tottenham fans have been protesting towards Levy and ENIC recently, but it seems as if supporters in N17 might be a little more enthused about what could come in a few months’ time.

According to the report, there are ‘encouraging whispers within the game’ that Spurs will invest in their squad significantly this summer.

Furthermore, there is said to be ‘serious thought’ being given to the prospect of buying another number nine to provide competition for Dominic Solanke.

Since he’s arrived in north London, Tel has proved that he’s more effective as a left winger in comparison to playing centrally, meaning a new striker might still be on the menu.

Of course, that is interesting news considering that River Plate want to sign Alejo Veliz, a striker who is currently on loan in La Liga from Spurs.

Perhaps Veliz’s departure could strengthen Tottenham’s attempts to bring in a number nine.

Unfortunately, it seems almost impossible that Harry Kane will return to Tottenham this summer – he’s still got unfinished business at Bayern Munich.

In terms of who Spurs might target up top, Postecoglou’s team haven’t been linked with a striker too often in recent months.

However, Jonathan David might still be an option for Tottenham this summer even if he has a ton of interest elsewhere too, a striker who is set to leave Lille on a free transfer.
