Bournemouth want to make Kepa move permanent

Bournemouth want to convert goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan into a permanent deal.

The Spaniard joined the Cherries on loan for the season, and he has made 28 appearances for them so far, in a side that is challenging for European football and has an FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester City coming up after the international break.

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper when Chelsea signed him from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, he has struggled to ever justify that price tag, and spent last season on loan as cover at Real Madrid for the injured Thiebaut Courtois. He has, though, rediscovered his form on the South Coast.

He is under contract at Chelsea until 2026, but is not in the club’s plans for the future, and they are likely to listen to any reasonable offers for him. Bournemouth are also interested in Liverpool’s Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher, but Kepa is their preferred option.
