He’s an Olise fanboy, just like all of us.
Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise starred during the March international break for France. Though he was limited to four minutes in the 2018 World Cup winners’ Nations League first leg match against Croatia, he started the second leg and was instrumental to France’s comeback, bagging a goal and an assist en route to a penalty shootout win. Spectator to all of this was Aurélien Tchouaméni, who completed all 210 minutes of the tie and still had the strength of mind to score a penalty in the shootout. Yet, after the match, the Real Madrid midfielder’s praise centered around Olise:
“His performance didn’t surprise me because I watch Bayern matches,” Tchouaméni said, via @iMiaSanMia. “In training, he’s showing the full extent of his talent. He simply needed a little time to show his ability and today [against Croatia] he had a great game.”
Tchouaméni watches Bayern matches? Huh. He’s a Bayern fan just like us.
On a serious note, the Lose Merengues midfielder has a point about giving Olise time. Olise’s talent was evident early on but he has been thrust into the spotlight so suddenly this season. It was only natural it would take time to adapt. That he is already proving to be a key player for Bayern and France, before the season is even over and as we head into the business end of the season, is truly remarkable and speaks to a player who rises to the challenge when he is most needed.
