Jan Blachowicz made his MMA debut on the 25th of February, 2007 at FCP 3: Khalidov vs Troeng.

He took on Marcin Krysztofiak and suffered a unanimous decision loss. Blachowicz then moved to KSW, a very popular promotion based in his home country Poland.

He kept winning the light-heavyweight tournament there, year after year.

Blachowicz won the LHW tournament in 2007, 2008, 2010. He also won the KSW light-heavyweight championship at KSW 17 in November 2011.

The Pole then defended his belt twice before moving to the UFC.

Blachowicz made his UFC debut on the 4th of October, 2014 at UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs Story. He started off with a knockout win over Ilir Latifi.

‘John’ had to endure a poor run after a winning start. He won just one of his next five fights. His only win was against Igor Pokrajac at UFC Fight Night: Rothwell vs dos Santos.

He bounced back with four back-to-back wins before being knocked out by Thiago Santos in February 2019.

Blachowicz then won his next three fights, which earned him a title shot against Dominick Reyes, after previous LHW champion Jon Jones had vacated his title.

The Pole knocked out Reyes in the second round, at UFC 253 to win the light-heavyweight title.

Since then, he defended it once, against Israel Adesanya at UFC 259. In the very next fight, however, Blachowicz lost his title to Glover Teixeira (at UFC 267).

His MMA record reads 29 wins, 11 losses and 1 draw.

Jan Blachowicz was born on the 24th of February, 1983 in Cieszyn, Poland to parents Stanislaw Blachowicz and Krystyna Blachowicz.

He is married to Dorota Jurkowska. The couple have one son named JJ born in December 2020.
