With just a couple of months remaining in the season, attention is beginning to turn to what looks set to be a busy summer transfer window for Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s side is of course on the verge of winning the Premier League title, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any improvements for the Reds to make. If anything, recent games have made it clear there are plenty of areas in the squad that need upgrading.
Of course, Liverpool fans will be hoping Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be part of next season’s plans, although the latter of that trio looks as though he might be destined for Real Madrid. While their contract sagas continue, work is likely to have already started behind the scenes on some new faces arriving at Anfield.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)
Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert appears to have confirmed that Dean Huijsen will leave the club in the summer transfer window. Speaking to Radio MARCA after coming head-to-head with his teammate in the Netherlands’ Nations League play-off against Spain, Kluivert said: “I know that next year he won’t be with us.”
The claim comes amid suggestions that Liverpool has inquired about the specifics surrounding Huijsen’s release clause. Fabrizio Romano claims the Reds have made contact, although the 19-year-old is being linked with a number of big clubs, including Real Madrid.
Liverpool.com says: Huijsen is surely destined for big things, but even we didn’t expect him to be lined up for such a big move this early on in his career. If even his own teammates are saying he’ll be moving on this summer, that probably tells you all you need to know about his future.
Liverpool should absolutely make sure it’s in the conversation for his signing, although it looks like it will be an almighty battle for his signature. You don’t get linked with Real Madrid unless you’re something pretty special.
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
Sticking with Bournemouth, and Milos Kerkez is moving closer to a transfer to Liverpool, according to GiveMeSport. The report claims the Reds are looking increasingly likely to sign the left-back this summer as they look for options on both sides of their backline.
It’s claimed that Bournemouth will not entertain a move unless a big in the region of $52 million (£40M) is lodged, but Liverpool is aware of that stance. What’s more, the Reds have not been put off by that figure, and are optimistic a deal can be struck.
Liverpool.com says: Kerkez is surely the No.1 choice as Andy Robertson’s long-term heir. He looks like he would suit Liverpool down to the ground, and Richard Hughes has already wrapped up one move for him – it all just adds up.
