Bayern Munich is dealing with some injury situations…
According to a report from kicker journalist Frank Linkesch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig will be fully ready to go against St. Pauli this weekend:
Jonas Urbig has recovered from a minor foot injury and is set to start against St. Pauli and Augsburg, while Manuel Neuer is sidelined for at least these two games.
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen gave an update on Manuel Neuer’s injury.
“It’s nothing unusual that there are minor complications during rehab. It’s especially noticeable with him now, but it’s nothing we can’t handle,” Dreesen told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
That really does not sound good…
Min-jae did not stay down long
According to Linkesch (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae returned to training sooner than expected:
Kim Min-jae has resumed team training sooner than expected after recovering from his Achilles tendon complaints during the international break and should be ready for the decisive weeks of the season.
With an injury like Achilles tendonitis, it is a fair question to ask why Min-jae — again — rushed back into action. While it is good that he is deemed ready for the “decisive weeks of the season” right now, it might not help the Bavarians if Min-jae is only operating at 75%-80% by the time those games happen.
Davies’ status uncertain for St. Pauli
Per Linkesch (via @iMiaSanMia), Alphonso Davies avoided a serious injury while playing for Canada, but still might not be ready for the weekend:
Alphonso Davies has returned to Munich and is still undergoing a thorough examination. Bayern assume that Davies did not suffer any serious injury. It remains to be seen whether he will be fit in time for St. Pauli on Saturday.
In addition, Dreesen reiterated that Davies is not seriously injured.
“The March [international] break is a huge challenge for the clubs. Fortunately, Alphonso Davies has been given the all-clear. So I really hope we can pick up the threads we had in our 2-0 win against Leverkusen,” Dreesen told t-online’s Julian Buhl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
