Arsenal need to have a big summer transfer window after falling short in the Premier League again this season.
Indeed, the title race looks to be over as Liverpool have pulled well clear of Arsenal at this point.

We’re now almost six years into Mikel Arteta’s project, and while there have been numerous close calls, Arsenal are yet to add to their silverware collection since the FA Cup win in 2020.
Arsenal need to bring in some new blood this summer, and, luckily, it sounds as though help could be on the way.
Arsenal are likely to sign Benjamin Sesko in the summer, while Nico Williams has been strongly linked to Arsenal too.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, Dharmesh Sheth has shared an update on Martin Zubimendi and Arsenal’s interest in the Spaniard, and he says that this deal is almost definitely going to happen.
This comes after Zubimendi was linked to Real Madrid in recent times.
Martin Zubimendi will almost definitely join Arsenal
Sheth shared what he knows about Zubimendi and Arsenal.
The journalist says that this deal is almost definitely going to happen, theorising that Arsenal may have played a part in the £50m man rejecting Liverpool last summer.
“I’d say that the Zubimendi one is almost definitely going to happen to Arsenal. I just wonder when you look back now to the summer transfer window, Liverpool were all set to sign Martin Zubimendi, and then there was a late change of heart. It’s not been confirmed to anyone, but seeing now, a year later, he’s very, very likely to join Arsenal, was there a late intervention by Arsenal in the summer?” Sheth said.
“You’d have to ask that question because he looked all set to go to Liverpool. It looked like it was a done deal. The deal was agreed.
“It was him who changed his mind in the last minute. And you just wonder whether Arsenal had come in and said, look, we can’t bring you in now, we desperately want you. Mikel Arteta knows him really well.
“And maybe he just thought, I’ll just bide my time for the time being. I actually want to go to Arsenal. Maybe he thought that.”
Martin Zubimendi’s record alongside potential Arsenal teammates
It looks as though Zubimendi will be joining Arsenal this summer, and, if he does, he could well be joining a squad packed full of players he knows very well.
Indeed, while Zubimendi is a one-club man, he may already know half of the Arsenal squad when he arrives at the Emirates.
Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino and Kieran Tierney have all played with Zubimendi for Real Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been linked with Alexander Isak, who also played for Sociedad.
On top of that, Nico Williams is an Arsenal target, and he’s played with Zubimendi for Spain.
Zubimendi has played plenty of football with these players over the years, and he’s had plenty of success too.
Martin Zubimendi record alongside potential Arsenal teammates | Games | Wins | Draws | Losses |
---|---|---|---|---|
Martin Odegaard | 5 | 2 | 2 | 1 |
Kieran Tierney | 18 | 8 | 6 | 4 |
Mikel Merino | 167 | 80 | 44 | 43 |
Alexander Isak | 76 | 30 | 23 | 23 |
Nico Williams | 9 | 6 | 2 | 1 |
A move to Arsenal would make the world of sense for Zubimendi considering how easy it should be for the midfielder to settle in north London alongside a number of players he already has working relationships with.
