The going just got tough for Bayern and Vincent Kompany
Earlier this month, Alphonso Davies had to be subbed out after 11 minutes in their CONCACAF Nations League bronze medal match against the USA. After a positive initial diagnosis by the time he returned to Bayern Munich, disaster struck:

The worst possible outcome has happened: Davies has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament or ACL tear. That means, Bayern will have to make do without their star left-back for at least six months. Here’s the club’s official announcement:
Alphonso Davies erleidet Kreuzbandriss.
Gute Besserung, Phonzy! Wir sind alle bei dir! ❤️

That’s not all, Dayot Upamecano is out too (albeit for a few weeks only):

Kämpf dich schnell wieder zurück, Upa!

A similar incident happened to Robert Lewandowski back in 2021 wherein he played for Poland during the March international break, picked up an injury, and was sidelined as Bayern struggled to make progress in all competitions.
It’s not that the Bavarians don’t have understudies, they do, it’s just that Davies’ and Upamecano’s injuries are a massive spanner in the works to Vincent Kompany’s system. We’ll keep you posted on these if more updates come out.
