Manchester United have joined Liverpool in talks for Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.
After joining Leverkusen from Celtic in 2021, Frimpong has experienced extraordinary success in the Bundesliga, a 24-year-old who is catching the attention of clubs across Europe.
And after learning about Real Madrid’s advances for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool began pressing ahead with their Frimpong interest earlier this month.
Of course, Alexander-Arnold is now very likely to join Real on a free transfer this summer, which might only intensify the Red’s pursuit of Frimpong.
That being said, Liverpool are not alone in their admiration for the Dutchman.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Manchester United and Manchester City have held talks with Frimpong’s camp in recent weeks.
Frimpong’s talent in wide areas has brought him firmly onto United’s radar, who see him as a potentially good fit for their right wing-back role in Ruben Amorim’s system.

Of course, United were previously looking to fill that void with Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda before he instead agreed to join Chelsea.
And in addition to United, their Manchester rivals are also keen on bringing Frimpong back to the Etihad.
The Dutchman left City in 2019 to join Celtic without making a senior appearance for the club.
However, Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to replace Kyle Walker who left for AC Milan In January, explaining why City have also held talks with Frimpong’s representatives.
Liverpool’s plan for Conor Bradley
Interestingly, Frimpong had been on Real Madrid’s radar to come in at right-back and the two parties held talks last year.
However, with the Galaticos settling on Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong won’t be heading to the Spanish capital any time soon.
In terms of Liverpool’s plans, they are very happy with Conor Bradley and firmly believe that he could be their long-term replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
However, TBR are told that Frimpong’s ability to also play as a winger is something that appeals to Slot’s team.
Evidently Frimpong won’t be short of options should he choose to leave Xabi Alonso’s side in the summer.
And it’s previously been reported that Frimpong would cost around £40m for interested clubs.
