Liverpool have some of the very best players in the world on their books right now.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah is a Ballon d’Or contender, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is about to earn himself a move to Real Madrid.

Speaking to UEFA, Ryan Gravenberch has been tasked with building a dream team made up of Dutch-Surinamese players throughout history.

There have been some fantastic Dutch-Surinamese players over the years, from Ruud Gullit to Clarence Seedorf, but, undoubtedly the best of the bunch at the moment is Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk is the best defender in the world according to some, and speaking to UEFA, Gravenberch has hailed his captain.

Ryan Gravenberch hails Virgil van Dijk

Gravenberch picked Van Dijk in his dream team.

The midfielder claimed that he can see Van Dijk’s qualities on a daily basis and that his talent is abnormal.

Indeed, Gravenberch said that Van Dijk is so good that it’s actually not normal that he’s able to play at this level.

“I’ll have to go with Virgil van Dijk. I’m going with Virgil because I’m currently playing with him and you can see what kind of qualities he has on a daily basis. How long has he been playing at the top level?

“Seven years or so? Each year he consistently performs at an abnormally high level, it’s not normal, so Virgil I think.”

Gravenberch is absolutely right, Van Dijk is one of the best defenders in the world, and he knows that first-hand.

Indeed, the midfielder has played alongside Van Dijk for a long time now for both club and country, and, unsurprisingly, they have a stellar record when they’ve played together.

Games 80
Wins 56
Draws 18
Losses 6

In 80 matches together, Gravenberch and Van Dijk have only been on the losing side six times, that is a remarkable record.

Somewhat incredibly, all of those losses have come with Liverpool too as Gravenberch and Van Dijk remain an undefeated partnership when playing together for the Netherlands.

Gravenberch has seriously improved at Liverpool this season, and he’s played a huge part in the Reds’ title tilt.

Liverpool will soon be Premier League champions, and that’s largely down to the brilliance of these two players.
