Arsenal’s transfer plans could be dealt a major blow with Bayern Munich joining them in the race to sign one of their key summer targets.

Mikel Arteta is facing a crucial summer transfer window in his tenure at the Emirates Stadium as he looks to bring in a new number nine.

The Gunners look set to fall just short yet again in the race for the Premier League title, and it’s clear that a top centre forward is needed.

Andrea Berta is set to be in charge of the North London club’s pursuit of a striker, although his plans could be dealt an immediate blow as Bayern think they can beat Arsenal to one of their prime targets.

Bayern Munich join Arsenal in the race for Benjamin Sesko

Bayern Munich believe that Benjamin Sesko would be willing to spend a season behind Harry Kane in the pecking at the Allianz Arena, according to Bild.

The Bavarians look set to enter the race to sign the striker, as director Max Eberl is a big fan of the 21-year-old and knows him well from his time at Red Bull.

Sesko is believed to have a gentleman’s agreement with RB Leipzig that would allow him to leave for around £58 million in the summer.

Arsenal are seen as far more likely to sign Sesko than Alexander Isak, therefore, now having strong competition for the youngster could deal them another blow in their hunt for a striker.

Along with Bayern and Arsenal, Manchester United and AC Milan are also in the race to sign the Slovenian international, who is set to be one of the biggest names in next summer’s transfer window.

Benjamin Sesko is showing great promise but is he ready for Premier League move?

17 goals in 36 appearances whilst playing top-flight and Champions League football is really not a bad return for a player who is still only 21.

However, Arsenal need an elite striker who is ready to score plenty of goals now and rival the likes of Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.

The striker would certainly get more chances in Arteta’s team than at Leipzig, but Berta and Arsenal will need to assess how long he may take to get up and running.
