Well, it is important to dream.
In the 2024 summer transfer window, Nico Williams was one of hottest talents in the world. He ran red hot on the left wing for Spain as the 2010 World Cup winners won the European Championship in Germany. Despite the mercurial and utterly unbelievable 16-year-old on the wing opposite of him, Williams came away with a lot of hype and praise and was seemingly set for a big move to FC Barcelona.
But the move fell apart/was never planned/whatever version of events Barcelona president Laporta saw fit to say on any particular day.
And as the move fell apart, so has Williams’ star fallen from glory somewhat. The brother of Iñaki Williams has scored just four league goals all season and has struggled to maintain the hype from last summer. Was the 2024 EURO campaign just a special tournament for the 22-year-old? Or could he reach those levels again?
It seems that Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is banking on the latter being true. From Sport Bild, as captured by @iMiaSanMia,
Max Eberl’s ‘dream’ for the left wing position is Nico Williams.
Williams is said to have a €58 million release clause and a wage of around €10 million a year, as well as plenty of other suitors. Eberl will have to put a lot of money on the table to bring the Les Leones player to Bayern.
