Enzo Fernandez starred for Argentina as they thrashed Brazil 4-1 in their latest World Cup.
The Chelsea midfielder has a habit of performing for Lionel Scaloni’s side, having first become a household name during the 2022 World Cup that earned him a move to Stamford Bridge.
Once again, Enzo Fernandez looked the part for Argentina as he doubled their lead by scoring a tap-in and showcasing that his natural goalscoring instincts.
But it was for Alexis Mac Allister’s goal where the former Benfica technician did what he does best, picking out the Liverpool orchestrator’s intelligent run with a stunning pass from outside the box.
John Obi Mikel tipped Fernandez to become “world-class” and if he continues to produce such all-conquering displays for both club and country, it is hard to disagree with the Champions League winner’s claim.
Enzo Fernandez handed 9/10 rating after Argentina beat Brazil
Fernandez is clearly an immensely gifted player and in flashes, he has shown that for Chelsea.
Scott Minto described Fernandez as “technically brilliant” and while he has struggled since making a move to West London, performances like his latest one against Brazil indicates why he caught the eye in the first place.
The 24-year-old’s exploits were a reminder of why he is truly a special player, capable of controlling a game while also producing goals and assists.
TyC Sports handed Fernandez a nine out of 10 rating and deemed them as their Man of the Match after Argentina demolished Brazil: “Enzo seems to understand everything that’s happening on the pitch and plays accordingly. He started and finished the 2-0 and provided a remarkable assist for Alexis in the third. He dominated the second half.”
