While suggestions of a possible swap deal involving Darwin Nunez have been played down, there are other players Liverpool could be willing to bring into negotiations.

Newcastle were close to signing Joe Gomez last summer.

Jarrell Quansah also was touted as a potential makeweight when the Reds were trying to prise Anthony Gordon away from St James Park.

The Magpies plan to hold contract talks with Isak at the end of the season, but realise the Swede will be hot property after scoring 50 goals in just 77 Premier League games.

With doubts over Isak’s future and Callum Wilson expected to depart, Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell has registered an interested in soon-to-be free agent Jonathan David.

But the Magpies will have competition for the Canada international, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham among the clubs also linked with an interest.

Premier League duo chase Chelsea forward

Aston Villa and Newcastle are among the clubs keeping an eye on Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke is one of a number of players Chelsea may consider cashing in on to raise funds for new signings.

The England international, who cost £28.5million from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, has scored seven goal in 23 Premier League games this season.

Madueke has twice been dropped by Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca this season due to poor attitude in training.

‘Unsettled’ Onana open to Old Trafford exit

If Andre Onana does leave Manchester United this summer, it will be as much down to him wanting out as the Red Devils looking to move him on.

There is serious interest in Onana from the Saudi Pro League, with United willing to listen to offers for their error-prone number one.

While Ruben Amorim is not against selling Onana to bring in his own man between the sticks, talkSPORT has been told the Cameroonian has been unsettled at Old Trafford for some time.

With United conscious of tight PSR restrictions they would want to get back the bulk of the £46m they forked out for Onana on Amorim’s predecessor Erik ten Hag’s instructions.

Brighton midfielder Matt O’Riley is attracting the attentions of clubs in Italy.

talkSPORT has been told Roma are one of the teams eyeing a swoop for O’Riley, who has endured a difficult first season in the Premier League.

Brighton appeared to have pulled off a coup when they paid Celtic £25m for O’Riley last summer, but the 24-year-old has been limited to just 14 appearances for the Seagulls.

His cause was not helped by suffering an ankle injury on his debut in the EFL Cup against Crawley before returning after two months out to score the winner against Manchester City.

But a separate knee issue has hampered his progress and Denmark international O’Riley knows he needs to be playing regularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
