We simulated Wrexham in the Premier League and they broke record no-one thought would ever be beaten

The League One club have enjoyed back-to-back promotions over the last two seasons and could be in the top flight by the 2026/27 campaign.

SPORTbible has simulated Wrexham in the Premier League and the results were shocking.

Wrexham have risen in popularity over the past few years since they were taken over by North American actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in February 2021.

Since then, the club has enjoyed back-to-back promotions under Phil Parkinson’s tutelage and will have the chance to secure a third consecutive promotion this season – the Red Dragons are currently second in the third division of English football.

And if they continue on the same trajectory, they could be in the Premier League within two seasons – although this would be a big ask.

So, what happened when we simulated the Red Dragons in the top flight?

Unfortunately for the Welsh side, they won just two of 38 games – away at Everton and at home against Wolves – which landed them the unwanted record of the lowest-ever points total (nine) in the league, two less than the 11 Derby County won during the 2007/08 campaign.

They also scored the fewest goals in Premier League history with just 12.

Luckily for Wrexham supporters, this was just a simulation and if they were to reach the league they would likely recruit higher-quality players than those currently at the club.

Just four years ago, reaching the top flight was a dream but now it is a realistic prospect and Reynolds, 48, gave his thoughts on the matter earlier this year.

“I mean, 10 years from now… we would be morons to not want to see this club in the Premier League but to also be unique in that everything about the place has stayed true to what it originally was – I mean, that’s kind of the perfect scenario,” said Reynolds when speaking on Men in Blazers.

“I remember Rob early on, he was like ‘of course we want to go to the Premier League’, and it eventually got into my cells… hell yes we want that, why wouldn’t we want that?” Reynolds added.

“Who wouldn’t want that? And we can kind of see it, you know?”

The pair purchased the club for around £2m but it is now worth £100m, according to Bloomberg.
