Gegard Mousasi is a veteran of more than 50 fights. He has been in the mixed martial arts scene for almost 19 years. The Bellator fighter who is still at the top of his game, was also a kickboxer.

His biggest payout is believed to be against Douglas Lima at Bellator 250. He won the Bellator Middleweight title that night. In fact, he reclaimed it. Mousasi is believed to have made $250,000 that night.

Gegard Mousasi made his MMA debut on the 27th of April, 2003 in a promotion called 2H2H. He beat Daniel Spek in the first round via. TKO.

Just three years into his debut, Mousasi was 12-1-1 in his MMA career. He was roped in by Pride FC. However, Mousasi left the promotion pretty quickly after failing to win the welterweight Grand Prix.

Mousasi then went on a 15-fight winning streak, that extended across various promotions, notably Strikeforce and Dream.

He also won the Dream Middleweight Championship and Strikeforce light-heavyweight title en-route to his 15-fight win streak.

Mousasi then lost his Strikeforce LHW title to Muhammed Lawal, after which he returned to Dream.

On the 6th of April, 2013, Mousasi made his UFC debut. He faced Ilir Latifi and won the fight via. unanimous decision.

Mousasi was then pegged back with a loss against Lyoto Machida, but bounced back with a win over Mark Munhoz.

He was once again defeated, this time by Jacare Souza, but recovered with 2 back-to-back wins.

In a crunch match against Uriah Hall, Mousasi was knocked out for the very first time in his career.

Following his loss to Hall, Mousasi went on an eight-fight winning streak that included victories over Vitor Belfort, Thiago Santos, Uriah Hall (rematch), and Chris Weidman. Impressive stuff!

In October 2017, Mousasi made his Bellator debut at Bellator 185. In only his second Bellator fight, Mousasi won the middleweight championship.

However, he lost his title to Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator 223, before going on to reclaim it with a win over Douglas Lima at Bellator 250.

Gegard Mousasi was born on the 1st of August, 1985 in Tehran, Iran to Armenian parents. When Mousasi was just 4, his parents shifted to Leiden, Netherlands. Mousasi began practising martial arts when he was just 8 years old.

Mousasi is not married and is believed to be single currently. However, he had a relationship going on with PFL women’s fighter Cindy Dandois for quite a while.

Mousasi endorses an apparel brand called Apeman Strong.
