The 26-year-old appears to be on the verge of finalizing a deal that will see him leave Anfield and join the Spanish giant for free this summer. A move to the Bernabeu has been the subject of speculation for months, with reports finally coming to a head on Tuesday as various outlets suggested terms had been agreed.

Although there is no confirmation from either Liverpool or Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold’s move to Spain now looks inevitable, and as a deal is finalized, his family will play a big part in his switch to La Liga.

Alexander-Arnold is of course a Liverpool native, having been born in West Derby and joined the Reds academy after being spotted as a six-year-old. He has stayed close with his two brothers, Tyler and Marcell, who are both regularly seen watching him at Anfield and elsewhere.

In fact, Tyler – who is four years older than Trent – is his brother’s agent, as well as a director at agency PLG. That of course means he will be in charge of striking a deal with Real in order to secure Trent’s move to the Bernabeu.

Trent has previously credited his brothers for his rise to the top at Liverpool, and they look set to play another big role this summer.

“As I got a bit older, and I moved up through the Liverpool academy, Tyler and Marcel willingly sacrificed their own dreams for mine,” Trent told The Players Tribune. “There were weekends when Mum couldn’t take my brothers to their matches because I had to be at the academy at a certain time.

“It was always them who made the sacrifice. To this day, I’m so incredibly grateful to both of them. Every step I took, we took. Every cap I got, we got. Every experience I had, we had.”

The Liverpool star’s parents may also have a big say in their son’s future. His father, Michael, reportedly manages him via a London-based investment fund, while his mother Dianne has played a big part in his career, even being at the AXA Training Centre last year to bid farewell to outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp.

“This morning, Trent’s mum was here and she wanted to say thank you and goodbye more or less,” Klopp explained.

“She told me what she thought when Brendan (Rodgers) left and I came in, and how she thought.

“Because they told her before when Trent was even younger that when your boy is of the age, you need an English manager, because managers from other countries don’t look at the academy.

“So she was really worried that could happen, and how that all worked out. That’s a beautiful story.

“She was in the building, because the first contract I think she did them, she was in the building for the first two contracts probably. It’s really funny, I see her now and how well she’s doing and looks great and is happy.

“Trent obviously did really well, his brother is an agent now and all that happened in that time.”
