Bayern Munich will get well acquainted with its ex-defender…
Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard is looking forward to seeing some of his ex-teammates at Bayern Munich when the two clubs square off in the Champions League on April 8th.
“I still have a lot of friends there. From (Kingsley) Coman and (Dayot) Upamecano to Raphaël Guerreiro. (My France teammate Michael) Olise also signed there. I grew a lot there over four wonderful years and won everything. But now, I’m defending the colours of the Nerazzurri. It will be a very balanced tie, 50/50. Whoever defends better will win,” Pavard told La Gazzetta dello Sport (as captured by SempreInter.com via @iMiaSanMia). “Bayern love possession, and they attack with quality down the flanks — from (Serge) Gnabry to (Leroy) Sané. We’ll have to keep our heads when we have the ball and be prepared to resist them defensively. There will be moments where we have to suffer. But we’ll have our chances.”
Bayern Munich’s recent losses of starting center-back Dayot Upamecano and starting left-back Alphonso Davies will likely prove to be an added challenge, but the Bavarians should be ready to face a very dangerous Inter Milan side.
As for Pavard, the Frenchman could be tasked with helping slow down Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala — no easy task for anyone.
