Liverpool have a big summer ahead of them.
Indeed, while the Reds are on course to win the Premier League title this season, this summer will be a big one.
Liverpool risk losing a number of key players as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contracts are all up.
Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid, while Salah and Van Dijk’s situations remain unresolved.
Beyond the obvious contract problems, Liverpool also have other issues to tend to.
Indeed, Andy Robertson has been criticised this season, and Liverpool need a new left-back.
Liverpool have been linked with numerous left-backs in recent times. Antonee Robinson is a Liverpool target, while Milos Kerkez has been strongly linked too.
Speaking on The Redmen TV, Mark Douglas has been discussing Liverpool’s links to Milos Kerkez, and he shared an interesting update.
Milos Kerkez moves up Liverpool’s transfer wishlist
Douglas shared what he knows about Kerkez and Liverpool.
According to the journalist, Liverpool had three left-backs on their list heading into this period.
Alphonso Davies and Nuno Mendes were two players considered by the Reds, but they have since signed new deals, meaning that the £16m man is one of the Merseyside club’s top targets now.
“Yeah, so I mean, it’s worth saying at this point, just to stress that there has been no official offer yet. I don’t think there’s been an official offer table for Kerkez, but there has been contact, is my understanding, that’s come from a really, really well-placed source, that there has been some contact from Liverpool around Kerkez. I think this time of the year, there’s probably queries and dialogue about players going on all the time, and I think it’s no secret that Bournemouth are aware of Liverpool’s interest in the player,” Douglas said.
“My understanding is that Liverpool have three players on their short list, two of whom have now signed new contracts, Alphonso Davis was one of them. Kerkez has gone higher up the list now because of that. I think the tendency was that he was maybe third on the list at one point, but because of the contract renewals of other players.
“I think Mendes from PSG was the other one that I was told about. It was pretty well-sourced information that one. Kerkez was pretty much third on the list there, but because the other two have renewed contracts since then, it does look like it’s going to be Kerkez.”
Milos Kerkez compared to Nuno Mendes and Alphonso Davies
Liverpool were looking at Mendes and Davies, but now, it looks like they could go for Kerkez instead.
Kerkez was Liverpool’s third-choice target at one point, but he could actually end up being the best option for the Reds.
Indeed, not only is Kerkez the only Premier League proven option of this trio, and, statistically, he is shining.
Milos Kerkez | Nuno Mendes | Alphonso Davies | |
---|---|---|---|
Games | 29 | 18 | 19 |
Goals | 2 | 1 | 1 |
Assists | 5 | 2 | 2 |
Tackles per game | 1.4 | 1.4 | 1.6 |
Interceptions per game | 1.2 | 0.9 | 0.7 |
Crosses per game | 0.8 | 0.7 | 0.1 |
Age | 21 | 22 | 24 |
Kerkez is a top defender, and if Liverpool can get this deal done, they will have their long-term Andy Robertson replacement secured.
A signing like Kerkez is exactly what Liverpool need in order to set up the building blocks for a successful long-term future.
