There will be two transfer windows in the Premier League this summer.
That is because of the exceptional circumstances resulting from the Club World Cup to be held in America. With Chelsea and Manchester City both competing it, they will be allowed by FIFA to sign new players ahead of it, and agree contract extensions.
Other Premier League clubs were concerned that this would give the two an unfair advantage in the transfer market, and now it has been agreed that there will be two windows in which all can do business.
The first will run between June 1st and June 10th. It will then close briefly before reopening on June 16th. The second transfer window will close on 1st September.
There had been suggestions that Premier League clubs were considering closing the window before the new season begins, but given the other leagues in Europe were not going to follow suit, this proved to be a non-starter.
