Los Blancos entered the March international break off the back of a 2-1 victory over Villarreal, with Kylian Mbappe netting a brace for the reigning Spanish and European champions.

Carlo Ancelotti‘s side are second in the La Liga table, level on points with leaders Barcelona, although the Catalan outfit have a game in hand, which will be played on Thursday evening against Osasuna.

As for Leganes, a difficult campaign to date has seen Borja Jimenez’s side pick up only 27 points from their 28 matches, which has left them in 18th position in the division.

The visitors will enter Saturday’s clash off the back of successive league defeats to Celta Vigo and Real Betis.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between Real Madrid and Leganes ahead of what is an important match at both ends of the La Liga table.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 16
Leganes wins: 2
Draws: 2
Real Madrid wins: 12

This is a fixture that has only been played on 16 occasions throughout history, and Real Madrid lead the head-to-head record, boasting 12 victories to Leganes’ two, while there have also been two draws.

Sergio Ramos and Karim Benzema are actually the joint-highest goalscorers in this fixture, with the pair scoring five times for Real Madrid against Leganes during their time with the kings of European football.

Leganes actually average just over one goal per game against Real Madrid, having netted 17 times against them, while Los Blancos have found the back of the net on 41 occasions in this particular fixture.

Leganes’ first-ever win over Real Madrid proved to be a 2-1 success in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey back in January 2018, with Los Blancos incredibly being knocked out of the competition due to the away goals rule, while they also beat the capital outfit 1-0 in the Copa del Rey in January 2019, although El Lega still exited the competition on aggregate.

The reigning Segunda Division champions have never beaten Real Madrid in La Liga, losing seven and drawing two of their previous nine fixtures with Los Blancos in the top flight, including a 3-0 reverse in their last meeting in November 2024.

Leganes’ two draws with Real Madrid have come in two of their last four meetings in front of their own supporters, but they were beaten 3-2 by Los Blancos in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey in February 2025.
