Liverpool are set for a worrying summer on the transfer front as they risk losing three of their best players at the end of the season.

Liverpool trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract in the summer.

Alexander-Arnold is reported to be closing in on a free transfer to Real Madrid, while the Anfield futures of Van Dijk and Salah remain uncertain.

Now, it has been reported that a different Champions League quarter-finalist has made contact over another of Liverpool’s soon-to-be free agents.

Inter Milan make contact over Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk

Inter Milan have now made contact and asked for information on Van Dijk’s current situation, according to CaughtOffside.

Inter club president Beppe Marotta is said to be leading the club’s pursuit of Van Dijk, who Gary Neville has previously called “world-class”.

However, there have not been any concrete negotiations or offers made by Inter as things stand, added the report.

Furthermore, the Nerazzuri are said to have other names on their list of defensive targets, which suggests they may not necessarily go all out for Van Dijk.

Nonetheless, it shows that clubs are circling around Liverpool in pursuit of their world-class players with just a few months left on their contracts.

What James Pearce knows about Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah contracts

Salah’s contract talks are said to be going well, while Liverpool believe Van Dijk will re-sign, but neither deal has been struck yet.

Robbie Fowler recently speculated that Salah and Van Dijk’s deals could already be done, but haven’t been announced due to Alexander-Arnold’s situation.

Speaking on the Walk On Podcast, James Pearce has addressed this theory, claiming that he’s been told by well-placed sources that this is not the case.

“This school of thought that Van Dijk and Salah’s new deals are all done and dusted and just tucked in a drawer away somewhere because they didn’t want to put pressure on Trent, is just numerous people who would know, have told me that that is absolute nonsense,” he said.

“I think it’s fair to say that if there had been a positive resolution, we would know about it because they’d be shouting it from the rooftops.”

The next few months will be tense for Liverpool fans, whose club is already set to lose one of their star trio to Real Madrid, with the other two also not sure of staying as things stand.
