‘Their top target’: Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham want to sign £100m Premier League player this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy on the transfer front this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad further.

Spurs have been busy over the last few transfer windows and it’s clear to see what Postecoglou is trying to do, but there’s still a lot of work to do.

Tottenham are currently looking at improving their attacking ranks, while also looking at more strength in depth in midfield.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Spurs have made a £100million-rated Premier League player their “top target” this summer.

Tyler Dibling said to be ‘top target’ for Tottenham this summer

The player in question is Tyler Dibling, who has made real name for himself at Southampton and has been one of the few shining lights for them this season.

With the Saints all-but relegated, there’s little chance that Dibling will stay put at St Mary’s Stadium amid interest from Premier League giants.

Tottenham are really keen on the 19-year-old, but Manchester City are also following the Southampton ace, according to Romano.

“At the moment, I can confirm that for Tottenham, he’s kind of their top target,” Romano wrote on GiveMeSport.

“They love the player, they would love to bring him in in the summer transfer window – but again, it’s not going to be super easy.

“Manchester City – let’s see, because City at the moment are following the player, but from what I have heard, they haven’t started any concrete conversation.”

TBR Football recently confirmed that Tottenham feel they are favourites to sign Dibling this summer.

Why Southampton are said to have annoyed Tottenham and other suitors over Tyler Dibling

It has been reported that Southampton want just over £100million for Dibling, using the fee Manchester City spent on Jack Grealish as a reference point.

The Saints’ lofty valuation of the England Under-21 international is apparently frustrating the likes of Spurs and City, as well as other Premier League clubs.

Dibling’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, so it’s not as though he’s entering the last 12 months of his deal.

However, Southampton’s leverage is reduced by their seemingly imminent relegation, so it remains to be seen whether they can get £100million-plus.

Dibling would certainly be a great addition for Tottenham though, thanks to his quality, high ceiling, and versatility.

The 19-year-old’s main position is on the right wing and, with Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski both struggling for consistency there, he could be an alternative.

Dibling has also played as a No. 10, a centre-forward, a central midfielder and even a defensive midfielder over the past 18 months for Southampton, at senior and youth level.
