Arsenal have been at the centre of tons of transfer speculation as we head into the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of strikers as the north London club look to bolster their frontline.
Alexander Isak is Arsenal’s dream target, while Benjamin Sesko has been strongly linked to Arsenal.
Hugo Ekitike is on the Gunners’ radar too.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Alan Brazil has been discussing Arsenal’s links to Ekitike, and he says that there’s another striker who he’s shocked isn’t being more strongly linked to Arsenal.
Alan Brazil shocked Arsenal aren’t being more strongly linked with Jonathan David
Brazil reacted after hearing that Arsenal are being linked with Ekitike.
The pundit says he doesn’t know much about the Bundesliga ace, but he does think Arsenal should be in for Jonathan David.
“The Sun are saying that Arsenal are going for Ekitike as an alternative to Alexander Isak,” Brazil was told.
“I don’t know him, the Eintracht boy, I don’t know him. But I thought that the Lille striker would be in the mix, I forget his name, Jonathan David, I thought he would be in the mix, very good player,” Brazil said.
Hugo Ekitike compared to Jonathan David
Arsenal have been linked to Ekitike recently while there have been some links between Arsenal and David too.
Both players are very talented strikers, and it’s hard to separate the two on a statistical basis either.
Jonathan David | Hugo Ekitike | |
---|---|---|
24 | Games | 15 |
14 | Goals | 13 |
3 | Assists | 4 |
There are pros and cons to either signing should Arsenal push on with bringing one of these players in.
Ekitike is younger than the £25m man, and he has been scoring plenty of goals.
Meanwhile though, David will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, so he would be the more economical signing.
However, a word of warning, neither striker is proven at Premier League level, and as we’ve seen so many times over the years, just because you’re scoring goals in France or Germany doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be a hit in England.
Arsenal want Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak for a reason, they’re proven commodities at this level, and there’s no questioning what they would bring to this side.
Sadly, the same can’t be said for Ekitike and David, so Arsenal may need to be cautious if they’re to go down that sort of avenue.
