FC Barcelona have been playing really well this season under their new manager, Hansi Flick. They are alive in all three competitions and are one of the best teams in the world this season. The club have also recovered from financial issues to a lot extent. Barcelona will still let go of a number of players who are not in the plans of Hansi Flick next season.

Barcelona are ready to sell Andreas Christensen this summer

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are ready to sell their Danish defender Andreas Christensen in the summer. The Denmark international has played just one game this season. He had to undergo surgery for a lingering Achilles tendon issue which he was facing. The defender was ready to be back in January but suffered a calf injury yet again. When he was ready to be back on the field, the centre-back suffered a relapse yet again.

Due to the injury issues and the options that Barcelona have in the centre-back position, they are ready to sell him in the summer transfer window. He arrived for free at Barcelona, and hence, money received from his sale will be profit for the Blaugrana.

Andreas Christensen is a steady hand at 28. His game’s built on calm—reading attacks with a cool head and stepping in with precise tackles. Tall but nimble, he is a wall in the air and quick to recover on the ground. What shines is Christensen’s ball-playing knack; those smooth, line-breaking passes from the back kickstart moves effortlessly. He is not the loudest leader, but his consistency and versatility—slotting into midfield if needed—keep him valuable. For any team craving a reliable, modern centre-back who possesses grit with grace, Christensen’s still got plenty to offer.

Good decision?

Barcelona’s decision to sell Andreas Christensen feels bittersweet. Sure, he has only played once this season, derailed by that nagging Achilles surgery and a string of setbacks—calf injury, relapse, you name it. At 28, his poise and passing are gold when Christensen is fit, but that’s the rub—he rarely is. Fans like me hate losing talent, but if he can’t stay fit, letting him go might free up space for someone reliable. Tough call.
