…That seems ambitious.
Bayern Munich’s horror double injury blow, which sees Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies ruled out for many months with devastating injuries, has come as a real shock to the club. Both injuries require surgery to be dealt with properly, with Davies already going under the knife successfully. Now, via a report from Le Parisien (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), it is Upamecano’s turn to be operated on:
Dayot Upamecano is undergoing an arthroscopy on his knee in Innsbruck to repair the joint. His comeback is planned for May. Should Bayern reach the Champions League final, Upamecano would definitely be available. He will also be ready for the Nations League final four and the Club World Cup.
Is making the Champions League final truly a possibility for Upamecano, despite the long injury layoff? The three month prognosis would seem to make being ready for the final on May 31st rather difficult. Reporter Maximilian Koch suggests (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) that Bayern are not quite as sure:
Internally, there’s still hope Dayot Upamecano would be available for a potential Champions League final. He’s not 100% ruled out for the season.
But hey, don’t worry. If he is not back for the UCL final, he will at least be back for the ridiculous gauntlet for the UEFA Nations League and FIFA Club World Cup matches. What a huge relief that will be for Bayern fans (insert sarcasm font here).
