BFW Question of the Day — March 28th: Should Bayern Munich rest Kim Min-jae vs. St. Pauli?

Hear us out…

This has been a hell of a couple of weeks when it comes to injuries at Bayern Munich.

Manuel Neuer’s calf, Alphonso Davies’ ACL, and Dayot Upamecano’s knee have taken center stage in the minds of most fans. Some are lamenting another cruel act from the injury gods, while others are just wondering “who’s next?”

Neuer’s timetable for a return remains uncertain, while Davies is out for the season and Upamecano has a slight chance to return if the team makes the Champions League finale in June.

All the while, center-back Kim Min-jae continues to battle Achilles tendonitis — a condition that has nagged him since the end of 2024. Given the chance to rest and recover by not reporting for duty with South Korea, Min-jae opted to attend team training with Bayern Munich this week, rather than continue to rest.

Barring some sort of miracle recovery, it seems — on the surface — like a missed opportunity to maybe get the ailment treated and rested. Now, it looks like Min-jae will anchor the backline this weekend vs. St.Pauli, but…should he?

Given his status as the new No. 1 center-back, is it smart to roll him out against the Bundesliga’s 15th-place side?

For me? Min-jae should sit this one out and target next weekend as a time to potentially return.
