With the 16 teams qualified for the 2025 Gold Cup, Concacaf has announced the distribution of the selections into the four pots ahead of the draw, which will take place on April 10. Mexico, champions of the Nations League, Panama, runners-up, Canada, third place, and the United States, fourth place, are the seeded teams and already know which group they will be in. But what about the rest?

The seven second-leg matches of the preliminary round were played on Tuesday, completing the number of 16 teams qualified for the group stage of the Gold Cup, which will be held from June 14 to July 6 in the United States (13 stadiums, mainly in the West) and Canada (in Vancouver). Now Concacaf, with all the selections confirmed, has divided the pots, so it is possible to start thinking about potential zone rivals.

Costa Rica appears as the team to avoid from Pot 2, while Saudi Arabia, the invited selection for this Gold Cup, is in Pot 4. Here, pots, important dates, results, and more information.

Mexico to kick off Gold Cup 2025

Concacaf has announced the venue that will host the first match of the Concacaf Gold Cup 2025, which will feature Mexico, the current champion of the continental tournament. And it will be none other than at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where El Tri lifted the Concacaf Nations League last Sunday.

“Concacaf has announced that the inaugural match of the 2025 Gold Cup, the 18th edition of the main competition for men’s national teams of the Confederation, will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The match, which will be played on Saturday, June 14, will include Mexico, champion of the Concacaf Nations League 2025, who will seek to defend their Gold Cup title after lifting the trophy at SoFi Stadium in 2023,” the organization said in an official statement.
