Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai has officially tied the knot with his Hungarian sweetheart, suddenly dropping the announcement during the international break. It comes after their shock engagement late last year.

The 24-year-old Reds midfielder took to Instagram to share a romantic snapshot of him and his bride, Borka Buzsik, sealing their union with a kiss. The caption simply read: ‘2025.03. 25’ followed by a love heart emoji.

Szoboszlai dropped the update on Thursday after responding to critics and playing all 90 minutes in Hungary’s 3-0 loss to Turkiye on Sunday. The midfielder also played in the entire defeat to same nation on Thursday last week.

But despite the Nations League setback, Szoboszlai had reason to celebrate away from the field. In a shared post the pair looked very much in love as they celebrated their union. Borka, uploaded a second post with the caption ‘Our day’ to show five more pictures from the wedding.

It’s been an extemely quick romantic journey for the Liverpool midfielder and his new wife. The couple went public with their relationship in July following Hungary’s Euro campaign, and by October, Szoboszlai had popped the question at Budapest’s luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace.

The engagement announcement featured the pair against the stunning backdrop of nighttime Budapest, with Szoboszlai posting: “She said Yes!” to the delight of fans who flooded the comments with well-wishes.

The good news will put Szoboszlai in a better mood after missing out on Nations League A promotion. Assessing the defeat, the Hungarian gave a sombre address.

“Now the [team] needs to pull itself together a bit, everyone, myself included, and come up with something for the summer that will take us forward and help us in the World Cup qualifiers,” he said, as per Rangado. “I can’t exactly articulate what it is, but the team needs stability so that everyone knows what their job is, to fight for every ball and not come out of the duels as losers. And then luck will be on our side.

“We played here for two seasons, now we’ve been relegated to [League] B, but I don’t think anyone thought we’d stay after the first year. The people who want us to be in Group B are happy now, but they won’t be when we get back. Or the people who want us not to be in the World Cup won’t be happy either. Those who can’t cheer when we’re about to lose shouldn’t cheer when we win either.
