Harry Kane drops biggest hint over his Bayern Munich future yet amid Liverpool transfer links

Not many people were expecting Harry Kane to be linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but international breaks have a habit of throwing up spurious transfer rumors.

Kane left the Premier League two years ago in search of major silverware, and while he is yet to find it in Bavaria, Bayern Munich is six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga with just eight games remaining.

England’s record goal-scorer has been prolific for Bayern, scoring 76 times in 82 appearances since joining the club from Tottenham, and there is little suggestion that the marriage between player and club is not working out. Still, that did not prevent a report by Barcelona-based outlet El Nacional from claiming that Kane was keen to finish his career in England, and that the Reds, who are likely to replace Darwin Nunez this summer, had emerged as the favorites to secure his services.

There are a number of reasons why the report should be taken with a shovel of salt, but the main ones are Kane’s age and the transfer fee he would command.

Liverpool may have to cut its cloth accordingly this summer considering three key players could be about to leave the club on free transfers, while the Reds’ transfer policy generally stops them from moving for players of Kane’s age (he will be 32 when next season starts).

Liverpool prefers to sign players who are in their early to mid-20s, and players who are in their late 20s and 30s are only generally recruited in special circumstances or if there is a bargain to be had. Kane’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2027, and his goal-scoring record for Bayern means he would still command a huge fee.

There is little believable about the report, and a video has now been shared by Bayern Munich of Kane learning German, suggesting he is planning to stick around in the Bundesliga for a while yet.

Ahead of the lesson starting, Kane addresses viewers, saying: “Today I’m going to give you a little insight into my German lessons, just let you know what we do a couple of times a week, just see how far we’re getting and see how much German I’m learning.”

Kane is then put through a series of exercises by his tutor in a classroom at Bayern’s training ground, with the tutor clearly impressed with the England skipper’s progress, frequently praising him.

Speaking last October, Kane revealed how his German lessons were coming along: “I’m learning. I’m doing two lessons a week. We have a good teacher there at Bayern. For me it’s difficult, but hopefully I’ll be there for many years and at some stage be able to talk a little German.”
