How Liverpool’s Premier League title run-in compares to Arsenal’s ahead of crunch period

5 Min Read

Club soccer returns this weekend with seven Premier League sides in action, but that doesn’t include Liverpool or its title rivals Arsenal.

The FA Cup quarter-final line-up includes several of the league’s top sides, including Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Bournemouth, but not the two teams sitting at the top of table. That means it won’t be until next week that the title run-in resumes.

And for the first time in several months, Liverpool and Arsenal have played the same number of games and their fixtures are likely to be sync over the final weeks of season with no more matches moved.

The Premier League resumes with its final midweek round of fixtures of the season and then it’s weekend-only games until the conclusion, with the exception of any matches moved to accommodate the FA Cup semi-finals and final, and Newcastle United ’s trip to Crystal Palace, which was reschedule due to the Carabao Cup final.

Liverpool will look to put that Wembley heartbreak behind it when Everton travels to Anfield next week and perhaps exact some revenge for that dramatic derby draw at Goodison Park last month. The Reds will even hope to wrap up the title by the end of April if results go in their favour. Here’s how the fixtures shape up.

Liverpool fixtures

April begins with that Merseyside derby next Wednesday before Liverpool travels to Fulham four days later. The following weekend sees another clash with a London club as Graham Potter brings his West Ham United side to Anfield.

On Easter Sunday, it’s a journey to the Midlands for Slot’s side, with relegation-threatened Leicester Cup not expected to offer a huge test. In fact, Liverpool fans would love to inflict a fresh blow to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s hopes of regaining his status as a Premier League manager.

April finishes with Tottenham Hotspur coming to Anfield in what tends to be an entertaining fixture. Given the Reds have already netted four or more goals against Spurs on two occasions this season, fans will be hopeful of a high scoring affair.

After that, May could be a daunting month, with a trip to Stamford Bridge to start with, before Arsenal at home could see Liverpool’s biggest rivals offer a guard of honor – if the title is wrapped up by then. Brighton & Hove Albion is the final away game of the season, although that could be moved if the Seagulls make it to the FA Cup final, before Crystal Palace at home marks the end of the 2024/25 season.

Liverpool next five fixtures : Everton (H), Fulham (A), West Ham (H), Leicester (A), Tottenham (H), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (H), Brighton (A), Palace (H).

Arsenal fixtures

The Gunners’ return to Premier League action is similar to Liverpool’s, with Fulham and Everton first up. It’s a home contest with Cottagers next Tuesday to start with, before a final Goodison trip on Saturday 5 April.

Arsenal’s match against Brentford the following weekend could become overshadowed by the Champions League double header against Real Madrid which sandwiches the clash with the Bees. After that, it’s a first league trip to Ipswich Town since 2001, while April concludes with a home clash against in-form Palace.

Like Liverpool, Arsenal faces a tricky May, beginning with Bournemouth at home, before that eagerly anticipated clash at Anfield. The final home match of the season sees Newcastle come to the Emirates, before the campaign finishes at Southampton.

Arsenal’s next five fixtures : Fulham (H), Everton (A), Brentford (H), Ipswich (A), Palace (H).
