Liverpool fans have been left reeling by reports claiming Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to call time on his Anfield career this summer.
Alexander-Arnold is now seemingly set to join Real Madrid this summer after 21 years at boyhood club Liverpool, where he came through the ranks and became one of their stars.
With Alexander-Arnold appearing to be on his way out of Anfield, attention must now turn to replacing the England star.
Jamie Carragher has now shared what he thinks Liverpool should do to replace Alexander-Arnold, which includes a dip in the transfer market.

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool must promote Conor Bradley and also sign versatile defender
Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, has claimed that Liverpool ought to promote Conor Bradley to the role of first-choice right-back.
The Anfield legend also said the Reds should look to sign a versatile defender in the mould of Joe Gomez, claiming a less injury-prone alternative to the 241-appearance ace is needed.
“I think the way for Liverpool to go if Trent moves on is for Conor Bradley to be given his head,” said Carragher.
“But also for Liverpool to buy maybe a utility player who can play across the back four.
“Maybe what Joe Gomez has been for Liverpool over the last few years, but unfortunately he picks up a lot of injuries.
“So I think Conor Bradley should be given his head, and Liverpool probably need to buy, to bring in a utility defender who can maybe play at centre-back and right-back.”
What James Pearce has heard about Trent Alexander-Arnold that’s different to the current narrative
While the general consensus is that Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool and join Real Madrid, James Pearce has said something different.
According to the journalist, people close to Alexander-Arnold insist that no deal is done between him and Real Madrid, even though people in Spain are confident about this move happening.
“There have been reports that it’s a done deal, everything is signed and sealed, but if that is the case then Liverpool don’t know about it,” Pearce recently said on The Kop Council.
“They certainly haven’t been told by Real Madrid, because the way these things work is that when there’s a formal agreement that’s been signed, Real Madrid have to let Liverpool know,” Pearce said.
“You know, people close to Trent insist that it’s not done, but of course, you speak to people in Spain and there’s a huge confidence that they will compete the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.”
Pearce admitted that this all “feels like a weird situation”, saying: “people are speaking like he’s gone, and it’s done, but if you speak to people at Liverpool, they will say nothing has changed this week.
“‘We haven’t been informed by Real Madrid that anything is done, we haven’t been informed by Trent that he’s leaving’ and people close to Trent are saying similar, nothing has been sorted.”
With that in mind, it’s certainly a case of watching this space until some official confirmation starts doing the rounds.
