The Gunners are keen to bring in a new number nine after being left light in the final third following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

Meanwhile, Man United are expected to recruit a striker as part of Ruben Amorim‘s summer rebuild at Old Trafford.

Man United’s current first-choice forward, Rasmus Hojlund, has struggled to consistently find the net this season, having mustered just eight goals in 39 competitive matches.

Arsenal, Man United handed Sesko boost

Arsenal have previously been linked with the Leipzig forward, while Manchester United are also understood to be among his potential suitors.

The two Premier League clubs have received a boost in their efforts to sign Sesko, with Bild reporting that the Leipzig striker would prefer to head to the English top flight if he were to leave the Red Bull Arena this summer.

Sesko’s stance could give Arsenal and Man United the edge over the likes of Bayern Munich and AC Milan, who have both been mentioned as potential destinations for the Slovenian forward.

Leipzig are bracing themselves for Sesko’s departure, although the player does not want to discuss any possible moves until the end of the season.

The report claims that Leipzig will demand €70m (£59m) to part ways with a striker who is under contract until the summer of 2029.

Why is Sesko attracting signicant interest?

Sesko has spent his entire senior career in the Red Bull system after joining Red Bull Salzburg as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2019.

The 21-year-old completed a move to Salzburg’s sister club Leipzig in 2023, going on to net 18 goals in 42 competitive appearances during his first season with the German side.

Sesko has continued to showcase his attacking talent in the current campaign, having scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 36 matches in all competitions.

The Leipzig man is also an appealing option because he can confidently carry the ball and contribute outside the box rather than just operating as a typical number nine.
