It could be a summer of high-profile departures at Liverpool come the end of the season.
Indeed, the Reds are in a strange position heading into this summer.
Liverpool are set to become Premier League champions, but there’s a case to make that the squad needs a revamp.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is off to Real Madrid, while Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s future’s are also unclear.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also need a new left-back.
In terms of other departures, Caoimhin Kelleher has been linked with a move away, while Darwin Nunez could leave too.
Speaking on The Kop Council, James Pearce has been discussing Nunez’s future at Liverpool, and he says that he would be amazed if the Uruguayan was still at Anfield next season.
Darwin Nunez set to leave Liverpool
According to Pearce, Nunez is set to leave Liverpool in the summer.
The journalist says he’d be shocked if Nunez was still at Anfield next season, noting that Saudi clubs could well come in for him.
Nunez was linked with Saudi Arabia in January, and that deal could come back around.
“Yeah I would expect Liverpool to be signing a centre-forward this summer. You know, I would be amazed if Darwin Nunez was still at Anfield come the start of next season,” Pearce said.
“It’s going to be interesting to see whether the Saudi interest raises its head again regarding Nunez. We know that an intermediary contacted Liverpool in January to find out if a deal is possible and Liverpool were adamant that it was a straight no.”
Darwin Nunez stats for Liverpool
It’s something of a shame to see Nunez on the brink of leaving Anfield, because it does feel like there’s a lot of unfinished business here.
The Uruguayan has been a very enigmatic player since arriving on Merseyside.
In the eyes of some, Nunez is a striker with massive potential and his size, strength and speed make him a potentially world-class striker.
However, others have criticised Nunez for his profligacy, and insist he will never be good enough at the top level.
Ultimately, the numbers don’t lie, and the stats show that Nunez hasn’t lived up to his £65m pricetag.

Who knows? Perhaps Nunez could thrive elsewhere, but, for now, it would appear that this chapter of the South American’s career is coming to a close.
