Manchester City have reportedly joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.

Larsson is in his second season as a Frankfurt player after arriving from Swedish side Malmo in the summer of 2023.

After making 21 league starts in his first campaign, Larsson has already matched that figure in his 25 appearances during the current campaign.

Overall, the 20-year-old has featured in 38 competitive matches this term, contributing to his team’s attacking efforts with six goals and one assist.

Larsson has largely impressed in his performances for Dino Toppmoller‘s side, leading to speculation linking him with a potential move to the Premier League.

Man City join Larsson race

Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs that have been linked with Larsson, along with Man City’s local rivals, Manchester United.

According to journalist Florian Plettenburg, the Citizens have now thrown their hat into the ring to sign the Sweden international.

Frankfurt have been made aware of Frankfurt’s interest, while Larsson is believed to be open to the prospect of joining Pep Guardiola‘s side.

The transfer update claims that ‘initial talks’ have taken place about a potential deal to bring Larsson to the Etihad Stadium.

How much will Larsson cost?

Frankfurt will be in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a transfer fee, with the midfielder under contract until the summer of 2029.

There is a belief that the Bundesliga club will demand at least €60m (£50m) to consider sanctioning a sale in the summer transfer window.

Frankfurt will hope a potential bidding war can drive up Larsson’s price, especially as Tottenham Hotspur and top Bundesliga clubs are also in the race to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, Man City may try to draw upon any relationship they build with Frankfurt while negotiating Omar Marmoush‘s transfer in January.
