Henrique joins the long, long list of candidates of winger signings at Bayern.
Bayern Munich’s desire to refresh the winger position is very clear. Wingers Leroy Sané, Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry all seem to be on Bayern’s list of players to sell, but of course each sale would necessitate the signing of another player. There have been many reports that have linked Bayern to all the most well known winger talents in the world, but Tz reporter Philipp Kessler, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, suggests that the Bavarians may be looking at a more unorthodox solution:
Olympique Marseille winger Luis Henrique (23) is a player Bayern are keeping an eye on. Henrique first caught Bayern’s attention in 2018, when he led Três Passos Atlético Clube U19 team to a 2-0 friendly win against FC Bayern U17 team, scoring a goal and providing an assist, after which he was invited to training. A move to Munich didn’t materialize at the time, but the club is still following the player. Nevertheless, Henrique is not yet a concrete transfer target at this stage.
What may add credence to this report is that head coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Christoph Freund were spotted in the crowd of onlookers as Marseille’s lost 3-1 to Paris Saint Germain just before the international break. Henrique himself did not contribute a goal contribution in the match, but has racked up 7 goals and 4 assists in just over 200 minutes of league action, filling in both on the left and right wings.
It does not sound as if he is a concrete transfer target and a move may be difficult to make happen, considering the Brazilian has a contract until 2028. But who knows? Crazier things have happened.
