Valentine’s Day may have been last month – but Arsenal are playing Cupid for their single fans by launching a dating show.
The Gunners have announced plans for their supporters to take part in a documentary dating series – dubbed ‘The Big Match’.
With Arsenal fans set to endure more heartbreak in their quest for a first Premier League title since 2004, the club have given singletons looking for love something to get excited for.
In a club statement, the north Londoners have said participants that are successful will be brought together on a blind date.
The fans would then meet at a local venue, before they head to the Emirates to watch their heroes in action.
Cameras will be on hand to record their interaction, where they will then share their experience following the conclusion of their date.
The statement read: “Matchdays at Emirates Stadium are a time to connect with the beautiful game – and each other.
“It’s for this reason that we’re launching a new dating show that celebrates how a shared love of football can prove a catalyst for an even deeper romance.
“We are calling on our single supporters in the UK to apply to be part of the production, which will involve attending a blind date with a fellow Gooner centred around an Arsenal game.”
Applicants must be British citizens and over 18 as well as being required to explain what made them fall in with their first love – Arsenal.
With the deadline set for April 11, Gooners wishing for a unique first date don’t have long left to apply.
While many fans on social media have speculated this could be an April Fool’s joke, Arsenal have certainly jumped the gun if that was to be the case.
For many supporters though, they were left in disbelief, as one X user quipped: “They’ll do everything except win a trophy.”
Another posted: “Weirdest club in the league.”
A third added: “Only Arsenal could combine heartbreak and hope so perfectly – both on and off the pitch.”
This fan then joked: “This club is one big social experiment.”
Meanwhile one commented: “What next remove the cannon and put a cupid as our logo?”
And this supporter simply stated: “Games never been more gone.”
As singletons contemplate applying, Arsenal’s men’s side are back in action following a two-week break to face London rivals Fulham on Tuesday night.
And Mikel Arteta‘s men will be keen to put a show with a Champions League showdown against Real Madrid on the horizon.
