It might be time for everyone to move on and just keep the focus on Alphonso Davies…

Canada Soccer seems to have had enough of being painted as the bad guy in the injury situation surrounding Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

Davies, of course, suffered a season-ending torn ACL in a game against the USMNT last weekend. Canada is dropping the gloves after being questioned and criticized by Davies’ agent Nedal Huoseh, Bayern Munich, and others.

The Athletic reached out to Canada for a retort to the hits that it had been taking all week and Canada Soccer spokesperson Paulo Senra (via @iMiaSanMia) took exception to the recent comments from Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sporting director Christoph Freund — and called for everyone to put the focus back on Davies’ recovery.

“We further reviewed the circumstances related to the medical care provided to Alphonso Davies. Medical documentation confirms that proper care protocols were followed, and communication records show that our medical staff provided updates to Bayern Munich throughout the entire tournament. We spoke further with Bayern Munich today to provide them with context and details to address any misunderstandings. We are all focused on supporting Alphonso in the months ahead,” said Senra.

With talk of a potential lawsuit hopefully fading, it would be in the best interest of all parties to start the process of moving on.
