Arsenal will be looking to make some significant changes in their squad in the summer transfer window to get their hands on the elusive Premier League trophy. They tried to sign Joan Garcia in the summer of 2024 but failed to secure the move. AS has reported that the Gunners are yet again targeting Espanyol’s Garcia in the upcoming summer. They are hoping for Espanyol to get relegated, which will lower the release clause of the player.

The Barcelona-based club are most likely to get relegated from the Spanish first division. Currently, as per reports from Caught Offside, his release clause is €25-30 million. That will get reduced to €15 million if his club get relegated. However, if the Spaniard get called-up to the national team, then his release clause will increase by €5 million, irrespective of whether Espanyol stay in La Liga or drop down.

Arsenal Want To Sign Joan Garcia From Espanyol

The Spaniard has conceded 38 goals and kept 4 clean sheets in 28 matches in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. That means when Garcia is in goal, his team concedes a goal every 66 minutes. Joan Garcia’s per 90 minutes goals conceded stat is 1.36. He has saved 99 of the 138 shots faced – meaning Joan Garcia’s save percentage is 71.74%.

Joan Garcia, Espanyol’s rising star, has caught plenty of eyes with his performance in goal this season. At 23, he has got the reflexes of a cat—quick, sharp, and fearless when facing shots. Garcia’s shot-stopping is top-notch, regularly bailing out his side with jaw-dropping saves, while his knack for snagging crosses gives defenders a breather. Standing tall at 6’3”, he’s a wall in goal, but it’s his cool-headedness that really stands out—rarely rattled, even under pressure.

Passing? Decent, though not his headline act. Arsenal has been sniffing around, and honestly, they should pounce this summer. With Raya locked in as number one, Garcia’s a perfect fit to push him, bringing youth and upside. Espanyol might dig in their heels, but if the Gunners can sign him, they would land a gem who could grow into a star. Go for it, Mikel!
