The former FC Köln man had very little time to settle and had to hit the ground running early in Munich.

Bayern Munich complete another victory in the Bundesliga against St.Pauli. The goalkeeper Jonas Urbig has been a busy man in March making his sixth appearance for Bayern in this month. Brought in the winter transfer, Urbig has been a handy replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer.

A potential successor to the aging Manuel Neuer, Urbig found himself quickly taking over the primary keeping duties at Bayern after Neuer’s injury. The fast start at Bayern, per Urbig has been a good thing to him.

Grateful for the support at Bayern, Urbig gave his thoughts on settling into the club. “I started getting game time very quickly and didn’t have much time to think, which was a good thing. I felt good in the team right from the start. The players and the staff welcomed me very well. That helped me focus on my performances,” Urbig said (@iMiaSanMia).

While yet to register a clean sheet in the Bundesliga for Bayern, Urbig has had a decent start. He kept a clean sheet against Leverkusen in the UCL, but his league stats can be improved with 6 goals conceded in 3 games. Nevertheless, with Neuer’s retirement not far away, Urbig has a wonderful opportunity to claim the Bayern number 1 jersey.
