The Bavarians did pick up three points…
Bayern Munich edged St. Pauli 3-2 in a match that saw the Bavarians trying to adjust to life after Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies — and without Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlović, and Kingsley Coman.
At times, it was not easy. There were some defensive breakdowns and miscommunications, but in the end, the Bavarians actually saw their attacking group step up and shoulder the load.
On this day, there was not much stopping Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, and Leroy Sané except themselves. On a different day, Bayern Munich wins this one 6-2.
So how would you rate the performance on a scale of 1.00 (worst) to 10.00 (best). I’ve got the showing as a 7.00 — Bayern Munich did enough to win in a tough spot (after a busy international break), fought through adversity (playing without five starters), and dominated possession.
While, I was not happy with the two goals and also not thrilled with some wasted chances, Bayern Munich showed some guts — and sometimes that is exactly what you need to win games at this time of year.
