Breaking: Bayern Munich left-backs.

So that’s not good. Bayern Munich left-back Hiroki Itō, one of the top candidates to step in for the just-injured Alphonso Davies, is now confirmed to be out with a metatarsal fracture.

The team’s socials confirmed this early Sunday (via @FCBayernUS):

ℹ️ Hiroki Itō has suffered a metatarsal fracture.

Get well soon, Hiroki! We are all with you ❤️

Meanwhile the Bavarians’ current grim injury situation was captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Bayern’s first team defensive/gk injury situation:

• Alphonso Davies (ACL tear): sidelined for 6-8 months

• Dayot Upamecano (knee joint and cartilage damage): sidelined until at least late May

• Hiroki Itō (metatarsal fracture): sidelined for several months

• Manuel Neuer (calf injury): sidelined at least for another couple of weeks

• Tarek Buchmann (shoulder surgery): sidelined until at least late April

BFW Analysis

Uhhhhhhhh, look, this is real bad.

That Davies and Upamecano are two top players in the same defensive line goes without saying. Itō, though, has looked a revelation at left-back, not only defending (he is a natural center-back and had played there consistently for VfB Stuttgart) but also in handling Davies’ creative responsibilities going forward.

Now all three are gone, basically for the season.

This is bad. That’s all we’ve got.
