An elite European club have made Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes a transfer ‘target’ this summer, according to reports.
Fernandes, 30, joined Man Utd from Sporting CP in 2020 and has since been a shining light in the Red Devils’ side.
Despite Ruben Amorim’s side being 13th in the Premier League, Fernandes has often led by example scoring crucial goals this season.
However, according to the Daily Star, another club could poach the attacking midfielder this summer, a move which could prove disastrous for Amorim, 40, and his side given the fact that the 30-year-old has registered 16 goals and 16 assists in 44 appearances this term.
The report claims that Real Madrid are preparing a £90m bid, which would be United’s record sale – taking over the £80m fee received from Real for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.
With Fernandes now on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final two seasons of his contract, selling the Portuguese at such a hefty price would arguably make sense for the Red Devils.
If he were to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side he would compete with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric and Fede Valverde for a spot in Los Blancos’ midfield.
It is unclear if Fernandes would consider a move to the 15-time Champions League winners, however, he recently voiced his desire to overtake the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Andy Cole on United’s top goalscorer list.
“From Sandy Turnbull (101 goals) it’s a long way up,” said Fernandes who has scored 95 times for United.

“121 for Andy Cole, then 126 for Ole. I hope to overtake them and it will be a good sign for us as a club that I’m scoring so many goals. Hopefully, I’m going to go up and up. I hope to score as many as I can to help the club – and also help my teammates to score more and more.
“Obviously everyone always wants to score goals and wants to be involved. Every time you score, you obviously help the team to win games and it’s obviously very, very special. So it’s important, but it’s not the main thing in football. I’m not looking at the lists and only thinking about overtaking whoever.”
