Matchday 27 fixtures and results
League leaders Hamburg took another step towards promotion but they will likely be frustrated not to have emerged victorious from a match they largely dominated. Marco Richter went closest to breaking the deadlock with a strike that hit the crossbar, but ultimately neither side was able to find a breakthrough.
Ulm 2-1 Darmstadt
Goals: 1-0 Röser 50’, 2-0 Batista Meier 57’, 2-1 Riedel 68’
Despite leading in almost every stat, from possession and passes to shots and even fouls, Darmstadt come away with nothing on a disappointing day at the office. Relegation battlers Ulm dug deep, especially in a one-sided first period, before a smash-and-grab goal early in second half handed them a 2-0 lead. Although the visitors pulled a goal back, they were unable to equalise and must now look nervously over their shoulders in an increasignly tight relegation battle.
Neither side was able to grab what would have been a huge three points with the teams around them still having to play today. Nevertheless, despite being unable to win today, both sides are still well in the promotion race, with Hannover in fifth and Magdeburg in fourth. Neither side displayed enough cutting edge today, despite Magdeburg having more of the ball, with either side looking most dangerous from corners.
