Their rewards for overcoming the Seagulls is a showdown with either Bournemouth or Man City, who square off in the final quarter-final tie later on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa will contest the other semi-final tie after their respective 3-0 victories over Fulham and Preston North End respectively.

Palace breezed through their all-London showdown at Craven Cottage, while Villa eventually cruised past Preston having needed almost an hour to score the opening goal.

April 26 and April 27 are the dates for the two last-four ties, the Football Association to confirm the kickoff times in due course.

If Bournemouth can progress past Man City, they and Palace will be the remaining sides in the competition who are yet to win the FA Cup in their history.
