Is Bruno Fernandes leaving Manchester United? The Portuguese star is targeted by a European giant

Could Bruno Fernandes be on his way to Real Madrid in a record-breaking deal? Reports suggest the Spanish giants are preparing a $90 million bid for the Manchester United captain. If the transfer goes through, it would be United’s biggest sale ever, surpassing even Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a transfer target for a top European club this summer, according to reports.

The 30-year-old Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in 2020 and has been a standout performer for the Red Devils ever since. Despite Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League, Fernandes has consistently led by example, scoring crucial goals this season.

However, according to the Daily Star, Real Madrid could make a move for the attacking midfielder this summer, a transfer that would be a significant blow to Manchester United. The report claims that Fernandes has registered an impressive 16 goals and 16 assists in 44 appearances this season.

Real Madrid is reportedly preparing a $90 million bid for Fernandes, which would be Manchester United’s record sale, surpassing the $80 million fee they received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

With Fernandes now over 30 and approaching the final two seasons of his contract, selling the Portuguese international for such a high price could make sense for Manchester United.

If he were to join Carlo Ancelotti’s side, he would face competition from the likes of Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, and Fede Valverde for a place in Los Blancos’ midfield.

Fernandes’ future uncertain

It is unclear if Fernandes would consider a move to the 15-time Champions League winners. However, he recently expressed his desire to climb Manchester United’s top goalscorer list, surpassing legends like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Andy Cole.

“From Sandy Turnbull (101 goals) it’s a long way up,” said Fernandes, who has scored 95 times for Manchester United.

“121 for Andy Cole, then 126 for Ole. I hope to overtake them, and it will be a good sign for us as a club that I’m scoring so many goals. Hopefully, I’m going to go up and up. I hope to score as many as I can to help the club – and also help my teammates to score more and more”.

“Obviously, everyone always wants to score goals and wants to be involved. Every time you score, you obviously help the team to win games, and it’s obviously very, very special. So it’s important, but it’s not the main thing in soccer. I’m not looking at the lists and only thinking about overtaking whoever.”
