The Portuguese midfielder sounds happy in Munich…
It is unclear how much João Palhinha would have played during Bayern Munich’s 3-2 victory over St. Pauli if not for Leon Goretzka’s exit from the match due to back pain.
Palhinha got his chance and put in a solid shift. Those opportunities have come few and far between this season, though, which has led to speculation that Palhinha could get sold this summer. The midfielder spoke about the rumors after the match.
“Such rumors don’t bother me much. I’m concentrating on what I can influence: myself, on my work. The feedback from the coaching staff is positive. They’re pushing me, and I’m giving it my all. Our team doesn’t just consist of 11 players; we have a lot of quality in every position – and despite the injuries, we can achieve our goals this season. I’m here to win titles,” Palhinha told Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
With a strong group of midfielders, Palhinha’s chances for playing time could be even more limited even next season when Tom Bischof arrives. Clearly, this summer will be a time to discuss the possibilities for everyone in that group.
